Aman has named its first Maldives destination Amanolu, set within the Vaavu Atoll. The 52-key resort will include a limited collection of 16 branded residences, and the development is being designed by longtime Aman collaborator Kerry Hill Architects.
Each residence will occupy its own island within the property. Every residence is planned with five bedrooms, a 25-metre swimming pool, a personal berth, and dedicated staff accommodation. Some will be oriented toward a single sunrise or sunset shoreline, while others will extend coast to coast with beaches on both sides.
The resort will include a dedicated wellness island with an Aman Spa and the brand's signature Spa Houses, alongside a separate activity island offering diving, snorkelling, watersports, and marine exploration. Dining will draw on Aman's global culinary concepts, with family facilities and gathering spaces across the property.
The name combines Aman, the Sanskrit word for peace, with Olu, inspired by the water lily, a flower associated with serenity and renewal throughout the Indian Ocean region. Amanolu is Aman's first property in the Maldives and extends a portfolio the brand describes as 36 hotels, resorts, and branded residences across 21 destinations.
On timing, Travel Monitor reports the resort is scheduled to open in 2028. Maldives Ledger notes that Aman has not announced an exact opening date on its official website, where the destination is currently listed as forthcoming.
